It surprises me to learn that TF2 is being favourably compared to OW since I usually read stuff which favours OW. I can’t say much about TF2 since I haven’t played it.

I think OW isn’t a serious shooter game in the sense that you run around happily shooting enemies but it’s more like a strategy game. When you play against other players, you need to be really attentive to judge the situation so that you know when to disengage and when to fight. It’s much funnier than a shooter game which takes itself seriously. The ridiculous characters and dialogues are also a treat.
