I'm trying out a Marik icon on Dreamwidth, but I'm not sure how long it will last. I adore it, but it is driving me crazy that it cuts off part of his bangs! There was no way to get it any different. Years ago, I used to use a Marik icon of his Namu act, but this time I wanted one of him being genuinely good.
I also need to remember to jot down a random hurt/comfort scene with him and Tea that's been going through my mind. I'll probably put it in a future story, maybe the next one. I'm hoping to go through with my plans to relaunch the YGO mystery stories in my current timeline. I have no illusions that the series will be as prolific as the old one, but it was what I wanted to aim towards ever since writing The Pendulum Swings years ago and I want to give it a try.
Did I mention anything about my plans to bring Atem back? Now I can't remember. I thought I'd resigned myself to him being in the afterlife, but after getting back into the series, it seems too sad for him and Yugi to be apart. Plus, I really think that while Atem will be happy to see his old loved ones again, he will end up missing Yugi and the others desperately. He was closer to Yugi than he was to anyone else, and I know that I would rather be with the people I'm closest to, if I have to choose. So he's coming back to live in the modern world. But I won't destroy Yugi's character development, of course. Atem will step back and let Yugi be the leader. I've already got the first scene written, where Atem is talking to Shadi about assorted stuff. One thing they muse on is why Zorc didn't let Atem see Thief King Bakura's real fate in the Dark RPG and if Zorc didn't want it known that Thief King had been fused with his spirit because Zorc didn't want Atem getting any ideas about rescuing Thief King.
Yesterday I read through Burning Starfire and was pleased that it was actually good. I remembered it as a disaster because I was having a lot of problems with it and then it seemed like I kept getting criticisms and complaints any time there were fantasy elements that seemed too "girly" or whatnot. I finally got so discouraged feeling like I was doing a terrible job and abandoned it. I dug through my notes for what I was planning with it and wow, was it going to get dark. Part of me would like to try finishing the story but changing the plan. Another part feels that would be dishonoring the story and making it shallow and it would be better to leave it unfinished if I don't want to go through with my original plans.
I've been putting up some more YGO pictures here and there, mostly illustrations from Dragons at Dawn. I am terribly amused at one where too many people are crowded into Duke's car and Yugi ended up on Yami Bakura's lap. ROTFLOL. http://meromeroyui.deviantart.com
Another Scripted Duel I stumbled on recently was Seto vs. Joey, with Tristan as the peanut gallery. That was fun and cute! I love when Eric Stuart and Wayne Grayson break character at the end and hug. And for some reason I can't stop being amused at one throwaway comment Seto makes where he says that Joey copied Tristan's algebra paper and Tristan says they both got a D+. LOL. I don't know that I think Joey would really do that, but I'm still entertained. Maybe it's partially because I hate math so much that I found it so amusing, but I think most of it is that I'm amused Seto was actually sitting close enough to them to see that going on! Unless there was assigned seating, one would think he'd be sitting as far away from them as possible. And then I was also amused because, you know, we don't see much of the gang during school scenes after the first few episodes and another one here or there. And I think we only see Seto in school in the very first episode.
I actually started pondering about Seto in school over the last few days. Gozaburo says that he finished Seto's tutoring and whatnot, so why did he decide to go to school? Was it the law even with his private tutoring done, since he was still of school age? It's hard to picture him actually wanting to go to school, especially if he was already getting his education privately. Of course, when considering the original version, I know how the Japanese feel about education, so maybe Seto in school has something to do with that.
I also randomly started giggling because I remembered a terrible typo that occasionally happens due to the O and P keys being next to each other. More than once I've accidentally typed Gozaburp.
... And now I remembered Crystal's priceless crack fic about Gozaburo in the virtual world being discovered by the ACME detectives from Carmen Sandiego and one of them controlling Gozaburo with a keyboard like a video game character and it was such wonderful nonsense and so hilarious to see Gozaburo being shown up like that! ROTFLOL. I should track that down and read it again. It had me in stitches!
I also think I've decided to use my brown fleece for the Seto plush. Finding a doll wig is proving very difficult and the fleece is right here, very soft, and hey, I need to do something with it. Plus, I'm anxious to get to work here. I think I'll be getting the plush later today and I don't want to be held up by the hair problem. Still debating what to do about getting hold of a Mokuba plush, because it's too sad for Seto to not have Mokuba with him, but I'll worry about that later. I'll also need to think about hair for the Duke plush if I can't find a doll wig, and that will be infinitely more difficult with the ponytail and all. I don't want to just have a strip of fleece for the ponytail or whatnot.
