One thing that's a mixed bag about facing real people is that you end up facing a lot of GX characters. That's fine if it's nice people like Jaden and Syrus, but I also seem to get a lot of Chazzes. Gah. He sounds like a chain smoker and he's definitely one of the meanest characters to lose to. And his Ojamas are seriously just about the creepiest things I've seen in the game. Especially Ojama King. That thing's design is seriously gross. I've also never been fond of Crowler's character design, as it reminds me of something creepy I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it was this weird character from a Phoenix Wright game. His voice and behavior were about just as I pictured it would be from his design. However, at least he was gracious when I lost to him.

I think the meanest characters in the game are probably Chazz, Mokuba, Bandit Keith, Weevil, and of course, Yami Marik. Seto and Yami Bakura aren't very nice either, LOL. Although I find Seto meaner than Yami Bakura, honestly. And interestingly, some of the protagonist characters can say things that are similar to Yami Bakura. One thing Yami B will say upon losing is, "How could I lose to the likes of you?!" And Mai says the same thing sometimes.

(Also, I found some cutscenes from Yami Bakura's event-only interactions and it's true that that Yami Bakura seems to be a creation of Seto's. But now that he's playable, I figure that he's the real one and the one he can end up getting pitted against is the original, NPC one. LOL. It's so weird when two Yami Bs battle! And that's the only way I like to fight against Yami Bakura now that I have him as playable. It feels too sad and wrong to beat him otherwise, heh.)

For the OC characters, I still don't like Christine. I find it insulting her name is similar to mine, LOL. "I'll be so on fire next time that I'll make charcoal out of you!" Seriously? Of course she at least doesn't mean it literally, but she's pretty much the rudest of the OC characters. She also throws a fit and yells, "Why why why?!" if she loses. Andrew is also quite an arrogant jerk. The little kids are okay, although they can be exasperating and annoying, and it's an embarrassment to lose to them. Bella is the cutest. I still like David the best of all the OCs. He's turned up more since I last mentioned he hadn't been around, but it seems like other characters appear more than him.

Another oddity about fighting real people is that occasionally you'll end up paired with the same person twice in a row, LOL. Usually when that happens, each of us wins one game. Tonight I faced the same person twice in a row and beat them both times. The second time, some of their own actions led to their defeat. I can certainly sympathize with that happening! I really like that I'm getting better at dueling. But I also like that the people in Casual Duels definitely seem more on my level. The ones in Ranked Duels usually have super overpowered decks.

I've gotta say, though, for all of Sylvan's overpoweredness, it doesn't seem like it takes a lot of skill to use that type of deck. The cards come with so many tricked-out effects that you don't have to do much other than flip through them, it seems like. Every single card seems to have a bizarre superpower.

Then I ponder on how Yami Bakura, at least in the dub, speaks rather classy and educated, with a good vocabulary. In the manga he's a lot more informal, and I'm not sure how his speech pattern is in the original Japanese anime, but I really really love his dub speech pattern and voice. I think Ted Lewis's interpretation of him was part of what made him instantly fascinating to me. I love listening to his voice for ages as I play the game. So happy they got most of the original dub voices back!
