insaneladybugYou know, one problem I run into in season 5 is that it's hard to wrap my mind around associating The Winged Dragon of Ra with Atem. To me, it's Yami Marik's creature. I also associate the Ra themes with Yami Marik.
Also, I can't help finding it troubling that while only certain people can control the God Monsters, the things apparently have no problem obeying the bad guys. So Ra gets mad if a fake card is played, but not if Yami Marik wants to use his power to destroy the Pharaoh or innocent people caught up in the madness, like Mai?
In season 2 the God Monsters really seemed to be portrayed more as bad, what with talk of them having rampaged through Egypt, and what with their actions in the present day. Then suddenly in season 5, it's oh, hey, they're totally good and the Pharaoh used them to defend Egypt! **scratches head.**
And wow, I'd forgotten info on some of these old YGO video games. I'm YouTubing and finding random stuff, like a whole bunch of creepy Game Overs in Falsebound Kingdom. That looks like an interesting game. Glad it's just virtual reality and not time-travel, though. And I'm surprised by Scott Irvine as the Big Bad. Unless he's the twin brother of Seto's employee featured in the anime series and movie and not the same guy. I actually liked that guy. Not sure what I think of him being evil in the game!
Also, I have to say, Yami Yugi's defeat at the hands of Yami Bakura in Capsule Monster Coliseum is pretty funny at one point, LOL. "Total decimation! How embarrassing, Yugi!" **snerk.** And I love that the anime voices were used! I wonder how many of the games used voices.
Then I was finishing up the next chapter of my multi-chapter fic and found myself reworking twists from my ancient Egypt timeline that I used in the old verse. I really liked one concept I had of Thief King Bakura badly hurt and Bakura, ill with a fever, time-traveling to the past to help him. So I reworked that, and also came up with a new path for my Khu OC that's similar and yet different to his original characterization. He still wants to start a revolution, but he doesn't work in the Pharaoh's court. Instead, he tried befriending Atem when Atem was the prince and plans to assassinate him. Prior to that, he also tried befriending Thief King Bakura in order to steal from him. The ages are dropped in the new verse; Khu is 14 and Thief King 12 when Khu nearly kills him, instead of them both being adults in the old verse. They get into a fight and wound each other, and Khu leaves him for dead. That's when Bakura ends up in the past. Haven't decided yet if this Khu is related to P. Seto. But the way things go, I'm sure the story will eventually decide for me, heh.
I also wandered through my old Side7 gallery and decided I should draw a new version of the infamous "Yami Bakura drinks chocolate milk from the bottle while other characters stare in disbelief/disgust/annoyance" picture. I drew that like three times as my drawing skills improved. I only have one version on Side7 currently, and that's not even one where he actually drinks out of the bottle. He's just making himself at home in Seto's house and preparing to drink it, LOL. Seto, Mokuba, and Marik are appalled. I think I remember Seto in at least one of the really old versions, glowering at Yami Bakura. I want to say Atem was in one too. I had to remove many of the really old pictures in the gallery to make room for newer ones, thanks to Side7's rules about only being able to have a certain number of pictures in the gallery if your account is at a certain level. That frustration is what finally drove me to dA when they changed the ways to get a higher account level and I just couldn't seem to do it. I still have the hard copies of all pictures, of course, but I can't find the folder where I put them. It's driving me nuts.
The new picture has Yami Bakura in Thief King form, front and center, leaning on the counter as he drinks from the bottle. (I wanted it to be the open fridge door, but that didn't quite work out.) Originally I had Bakura's father, Bakura, and Marik reacting. Then I remembered I wanted Atem there too, so I fit him in. I'd like to get Seto in there too, but I don't think I can. The picture highly amuses me, LOL. I still need to ink and color it.
